creating a culture

In coaching individuals, I focus on helping people create a work-life in which their work has a positive impact on their overall sense of wellbeing, happiness and fulfilment.

On one hand, that is the responsibility of those individuals and their approach to work-life.

On the other, it’s down to their employer. And the more that employer can do to support them, not only will it positively impact their lives, it will improve their motivation to do their best work.

Here are some ways I can support in creating a culture that allows people to flourish:

  • Defining values, mission and purpose: From the smallest to the largest organisations, it’s worryingly easy for a company to lose sight of why it exists. Such ambiguity can reduce both staff motivation and customer appeal. What does your organisation stand for - and what makes it a bandwagon that people want to jump on?

  • Creating a culture: The values an organisation believes in define its culture - the way in which people interact, their ambitions and how they go about achieving them. Whether you value innovation, fun, profit, social impact, or all of the above - what are the day-to-day behaviours and processes which will ensure they are upheld - and how can they be implemented?

  • Supporting wellbeing: There is only so much a company can do to support its staff’s mental health and wellbeing. But at minimum, it’s important to know the impact its having and the ways in which it can. I work in collaboration with Wellbeing at Work to develop strategies for supporting staff mental health and wellbeing - because it’s the right thing to do, both for people and for business.

  • Engaging staff: Defining and implementing values, mission, purpose and culture comes from both understanding and inspiring the people within it. Without this, it means very little. This is about communication - making sure that people are not only aware of how they can get involved, but motivated to do so.
